About Us

Overview

Bharat Yatra Kendra is a secular, not-for-profit organization committed to uplifting the underprivileged and promoting social equity. While the organization was officially registered in 2008, our journey of service began much earlier — in 1993, when we started our work in Gujarat.

With over 31 years of grassroots experience, Bharat Yatra Kendra has been a beacon of hope for the poor and downtrodden, consistently working to bring meaningful change through interventions in education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods. Our mission is rooted in the belief that equity and equal opportunity are the cornerstones of a just society.

Unfortunately, the reality for many remains harsh. In the past three decades, the divide between the privileged and the marginalized has only grown wider. While the affluent enjoy the benefits of a globalized economy—higher incomes, reduced taxes, and generational wealth—the poor continue to struggle for basic needs and fair opportunities.

Bharat Yatra Kendra believes this imbalance can be addressed not only through policy but also through the personal responsibility of those who have the means to make a difference. As Prof. William Sundstrom aptly said, “Although the pursuit of distributive justice is often thought to require a political or collective response, we should not allow this to let us off the hook when it comes to personal morality...”
